Create Consume Participate Resist
Digital collage; 18 x 32 inches
The creation and consumption of digital media is a ubiquitous contemporary process. The digital universe is a cultural realm where our roles are in constant flux. This composition is based on a buffering blip in a video stream. The glitch brought awareness of the passive act of consumption and opened a window to react – transforming it into a decisive moment. The 46 words imposed over the image call attention to this liminal state we all catch ourselves in from time to time, the moment we become aware that we are accepting something, and it blends of the roles of consumer, creator, participant and critic.
