This video incorporates West Texas vistas with appropriated sound from combat pilots and drone operators. Informed by interviews conducted with numerous residents of Presidio, Davis and Brewster counties in the Big Bend of Texas, this experimental documentary explores the material meanings of this remote, beautiful place in light of its history of human presence and its contemporary identity as a frontier.
Made in 2012 in Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Davis Mountains State Park, and Marfa, Texas, with support from the Student Undergraduate Research Fund of Texas State University.
